MOMO NEKO’s presence in Japan has been developed through a consistent series of business missions, institutional meetings, international technology events, and cooperation initiatives. Rather than treating Japan as a destination for individual trade visits, MOMO NEKO has followed a long-term strategy aimed at establishing a permanent bridge between the innovation ecosystems of Central Europe, Japan, and the broader Asian region.
The beginning of this process can be traced back to IGF Kyoto 2023, which became an important milestone in developing the concept behind MOMO NEKO and establishing a Polish innovation and technology presence in Japan. Participation in Kyoto provided an opportunity to understand the Japanese innovation ecosystem, establish initial relationships with public institutions, technology organizations, startups, and business partners, and identify the challenges European companies face when entering the Japanese market. These experiences became one of the foundations of the future MOMO NEKO soft-landing and market-entry model.
The next stage included participation in the PAIH Business Forum and the development of cooperation with Polish and Japanese institutions supporting internationalization, investment, innovation, and technology transfer. These activities strengthened MOMO NEKO’s ability to connect companies, startups, research institutions, investors, and public-sector organizations from Poland and Japan.
Since then, the MOMO NEKO team has participated in four business missions to Japan, progressively expanding its network, institutional relationships, and practical knowledge of the market. The missions were focused not only on promotion, but primarily on direct B2B meetings, identification of technology and investment partners, market validation, discussions with Japanese organizations, and preparation of European companies for effective entry into Japan. Each mission contributed to the development of practical expertise in Japanese business culture, partnership building, technology commercialization, and long-term relationship management.
A particularly important milestone was MOMO NEKO’s involvement in activities connected with EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The World Expo created a unique international environment bringing together governments, corporations, startups, research organizations, investors, cities, and innovation ecosystems from around the world. For MOMO NEKO, Osaka EXPO was not only a global promotional platform but also an opportunity to strengthen relationships with Japanese partners, develop new international contacts, promote European technologies, and validate the concept of a permanent innovation bridge between Europe and Asia.
Activities around EXPO Osaka also contributed to the development of MOMO NEKO’s soft-landing and acceleration model. Meetings and networking conducted in the Expo ecosystem provided practical insights into the expectations of Japanese corporations and institutions regarding cooperation with foreign technology companies. This experience is being translated into services supporting market validation, localization, partner identification, business development, investment readiness, and the establishment of long-term commercial and technological partnerships in Japan.
In 2026, MOMO NEKO’s internationalization strategy is entering another stage through participation in SEMICON Taiwan. Taiwan represents one of the world’s most important ecosystems for semiconductors, advanced electronics, hardware, and high-tech manufacturing. Participation in SEMICON is therefore a natural extension of MOMO NEKO’s activities toward the broader Asian market and supports the development of relationships in deep tech, semiconductors, advanced materials, AI, autonomous systems, space technologies, and dual-use solutions.
Another strategic milestone is the Global Startup EXPO 2026 in Osaka. Participation provides an opportunity to present innovative technology projects and establish relationships with Japanese and international investors, corporations, accelerators, research institutions, and public-sector organizations. It also creates opportunities for joint R&D, technology transfer, investment, and commercialization, while strengthening MOMO NEKO’s position as a professional gateway for European startups and technology companies entering Japan.
The journey from IGF Kyoto 2023, through the PAIH Business Forum, four business missions to Japan and EXPO 2025 Osaka, to SEMICON Taiwan and Global Startup EXPO Osaka 2026 demonstrates the long-term and systematic character of MOMO NEKO’s Asian strategy. These initiatives represent consecutive stages of building market expertise, institutional relationships, commercial networks, and operational capabilities rather than isolated promotional activities.
The strategic objective is to transform this experience into a permanent European–Asian innovation bridge. MOMO NEKO aims to provide startups, technology companies, research institutions, investors, and innovation organizations with professional access to Japan and other strategic Asian markets, particularly Taiwan, South Korea, and Singapore, while simultaneously creating opportunities for Asian partners seeking technologies, R&D cooperation, investment opportunities, and access to the Central European market.
MOMO NEKO therefore represents an evolution from individual business missions toward a permanent market-entry, soft-landing, acceleration, technology-transfer, R&D cooperation, and international business development platform. The experience accumulated since 2023 – from Kyoto and successive missions to EXPO Osaka and the expansion toward Taiwan – provides the foundation for building a long-term physical and operational presence in Asia.
